HOW TO:
The first thing you need to do is attach the piece of plywood to the tyre. I did this by screwing the plywood to the edges of the top of the tyre using the electric screw driver. I screwed in 8 screws around the plywood to ensure it was secure.
Next I placed the tree trunk to the center of the plywood and tyre and screwed directly into the stump. This was to attach the trunk to the tyre.
To the top of the plywood I added the sofa cushion. I spray painted adhesive glue to keep the cushion in place.
Cut your fabric to the size needed to cover the entire cushion with some extra to staple in place. Next lay out fabric upside down and place toadstool upside down.
Tug the fabric round the tyre, fold and staple with staple gun. Keep doing this until you have a completely covered tyre.
And thats it – you have yourself some super cute mushroom garden stools. I recommend to people who are gonna try this to use heavy duty vinyl I couldn’t afford it at this time so I just used a cheap dollar store table cloth and they don’t hold up under little bums

do you think the tablecloths would last longer if only for decoration. Not for sitting?
I think so!
Super cute! I ❤️ that you put little signs with the directions on in each pic!!
Are these weather or water proof for outdoor use?
yes 🙂
These are awesome! I’m trying to figure out which grandchild I should make these for first! Thanks for sharing.
Hello! I love the toadstool idea, we are currently looking to upcycle tires for our daycare playground! My only concern is that the cushion would mold do to humidity or water. Do you know if this was an issue?
Hi there, this is an awesome idea. I just wondered if they fall over when sat on or do you sink them into the ground?
No they dont Heather the creator of these stools secured them in the ground. She also used them as foot stools also
These are perfect for children! I just published a cushion DIY on the blog today but have never attempted anything so ambitious 😉
Thanks!
Your toadstool idea is so cute, and I can’t believe that they are made with tires! I definitely think that it would be a great idea to make some sort of toadstool forest in my front yard for Halloween for all of the children to play around. I could easily get my hands on some old tires and I think that I could get some tree trunks from the mountains by cutting up fallen trees.
