ABOUT ME

MEET MEDINA

Hi everyone, thanks for stopping by and reading up about me! So where do I start?

I use to be a healthcare professional and would create everything for Grillo Design as my side hustle and passion. From side hustle to main hustle, it bloomed into something that really sparked my creativity and allowed me to spend more time with my family. I’m grateful to have a amazing community of people who support and cheerlead my work.

Decorating my home through DIY is a passion that I want to share with the world and I got to  fulfil that dream by writing a book!!! Yes a whole book! It’s dedicated to easy DIYs with renters in mind but for anyone and everyone! There is so much stigma around people who live in rented, subsidised, and council accommodation but I believe everyone has the right to make their house a home, no matter how temporary it may be.

I first decided to launch Grillo Designs as a Facebook page to share my DIY projects and decorating ideas. I found myself typing away during my son’s nap time and pretty soon, my page became a fully fledged blog! You can read more about my blogging journey here.

MY PARTNERS IN CRIME!

Thankfully, I don’t have to do this alone. My husband, Vince, is a big part of making my blogging dream a reality. He’s the one behind the scenes, helping with projects (especially painting!) and making sure what I write actually makes it to your screen, which is sorta a big deal. He also makes amazing lunches and coffees, to keep me going!

Not forgetting my two cheeky chappies, who are the reason I do all I do and who keep me on my toes and of course keep me inspired! I love creating DIYs for them or changing up their rooms as they grow up!

SO WHAT’S THIS BLOG ABOUT?

Grillo Designs is a DIY blog that showcases how-to tutorials, Upcycling ideas, interiors inspiration, crafty hacks and creative ideas for the home.

Not everyone has the time or  can afford to hire an interior designer; which is why I bring you quick, accessible  and affordable style ideas for your home by teaching you the art of do-it-yourself decorating.

Through Grillo Designs, I’ll give you insider tricks I’ve used for years to decorate my own home— as a renter, I know what it’s like to not want to pay retail prices for items that you may have to discard later.

I believe décor doesn’t have to be expensive or new to be perfect—and I’ll show you how to get that look. I’ll help you harness your creativity to transform your interior design into everything you dreamed of.

This is also a reason why I started How I Rent; a platform for renters to embrace their home regardless of the fact they don’t own it. We have lived in our current rental for 6 years plus (at the time of writing this!) and we aren’t planning on moving just yet! So why wouldn’t we make our house a home?

You can join How I Rent over on Instagram and website.

Contrary to popular belief, this blog is based in lovely England. If you’re clicking over from the States (which a lot of you are, I blame it on the wreaths)  , then a big hello and WELCOME!
