How to

My husband Ron took the antique 3/4 size bed and re-imagined it into a bench. He started by cutting the foot board in half to transform it into arms

They are perfectly notched into the back of the bench for a nice snug fit. In the picture below you can see the bench prior to adding the seat.

Next step was to handcraft the seat and the front drop piece from reclaimed lumber. The seat was stained with Jacobean and Red Mahogany alternating the colors between the different boards once the stain was dry it was sealed with several layers of urethane. The body of the piece was painted in Vermont Slate.

It was then given a light sanding. Then we gave all the flat areas a wash of Pittsburgh Gray then more light hand sanding.

At this point the whole piece was sealed with several coats of Agcriglaze Matte.

Now it is ready for its new life as a bench!

We are a husband and wife team that are passionate about breathing new life into anything old and discarded. There is also a strong possibility that we are hoarders lol. Ron is a master carpenter jack of all trades. I’m the dreamer/visionary. As a team we are able to tackle just about any project.
